My forest - Hazelnut Trees Agroforestry NFT
Arvol - Argentina
CATEGORY: My Forest.
NEED: Future forest. Net Zero/ carbon neutral initiatives. Fight climate change action and capital increase due to hazelnut harvest and wood.
MEASURE KIND: 1 ERC721/ NFT equals 1 tree.
PRICE: 1 NFT = U$D 70 = 1 hazelnut tree income (harvest and CO2 per year).
LOCATION: Exactly location will be provided. Near Gral. Roca, Río Negro Province, Patagonia Argentina.
DESCRIPTION: We measure the hazelnut tree harvest in kilograms per season and the carbon captured in the regenerated soil & in the growing biomass per year. Then we monetize this positive externalities throughout carbon credit markets and hazelnut sales. Each NFT has a certain amount of land of the forest of hazelnut trees (specifically for this NFT) and companion plants in Soluna. Each NFT has at least the income of 1 hazelnut. At full maturity, the hazelnut tree reaches 4 kg of hazelnuts that are sold at an estimated net price of 4 USD, that is, 16 dollars of expected annual income from year 7, beginning to give positive annual income in year 4, and approximately 10 average tons of carbon captured annually per hectare, which is 0.02 average annual tons per Arvol NFT, which adds up to either a small extra income or offsetting the footprint of a company or person, and also potentially the income from reselling your NFT or buying several and become the NFT owner. Each NFT is a smart contract representing 1 hazelnut tree and its potential income.
FOREST LIFE & CONTINGENCY STRATEGY: The hazelnut is a crop very well adapted to the area with drip irrigation, with great global demand and low climatic risk. Our irrigation system uses solar pumps that operate when the sun is out. In our case, that’s 300 days a year, exactly when we need to rinse. In other words, there’s a 100% correlation between when we generate energy and when we need to use it for irrigation. The water comes from the river, wells, and our two artificial lagoons.Irrigation system in land is conformed by the water source (Río Negro, one of the largest volume in the country), the sun power pump, the pipes and the draining (dropping and landing). During summer season, we duplicate the water volume in order to address the increasing temperatures due to climate change we want to fight. The forest is ensured preventing disease and fire. By every 10 tons of captured CO2 equivalent, we will save other 3.5 tons as preventive stock.
